Contribution to decrease carbon dioxide

    In summer, when temperature is more than 30 °C, power consumption due to air condition increases observably and proportionately as temperature increases. It consumes 850,000 kilowatt for each 1 °C temperature increase in Central area of Japan while 1,750,000 kilowatts in Tokyo area. When using cool-island tiles, we can restrain the heat up temperature, and then we can restrain the power consumption in air condition room and prevent from the waste of the petroleum fuel that upsurges currently, and decrease the huge output of carbon dioxide along with it. This is a remarkable progress for us to protect the earth. According to the test result of heat release in Nagoya University of Japan, every square meter of cool-island ceramic tile can reflect about 90,000 Kcals heat within one year. For a 1000 square meter building facing the south, then can reflect 75,000,000 Kcal heat. This is equal to decreasing 21 tons of CO2 each year. If converting to forest area, it is equal to planting 11000 square meter of forest (It is calculated based on that each hectare forest can decrease CO2 release of 18.3 tons).Japan has already established relative laws to restrain glasshouse effect and its waste gas release. For the state, administrative legal person and local self-government, when signing design contract of municipal services buildings, release of waste gas due to glasshouse effect must be taken into consideration.

The cooling effect of city environment

    In Research Center of Nagoya Industry University of Japan, elevated temperature test is conducted with incandescence lamp as replacement of sunlight as a light source. Test result shows as figure 4, temperature increases to 78 degree for the ordinary ceramic tile with dark shade which is with 15% reflectivity, but temperature stays around 48 degrees for cool-island ceramic tile which is with 70% reflectivity. The difference is as much as 30 degrees in between ordinary tiles and cool-island tile. Obviously cool-island tile has remarkable cooling effect to the environment.
